PHILLIP HERMANS
A Web Audio sonification of the Tower of Hanoi puzzle. Each disk in the puzzle is mapped to its own sine oscillator, its pitch determined by which tower it is on. Phillip wonders whether "the emergent melody could help students to notice patterns and internalize these algorithms better".

DEVIN LANE
Dear Diary is a type-to-music experience created by Devin Lane, Stephen Haney and Suyash Joshi. It was created in response to 2020 and how journaling and song writing helped the authors cope with a difficult year. As you type, the sentiment of your writing is analysed in real-time and fed to the Google Magenta API which then mixes between two melodies - one "happy" the other "sad". There's an in-depth write up on the Magenta blog.

DAMIEN CLARKE
Xenpaper is a terse language for sequencing music. A distinguishing feature is its great support for music outside of the Western 12 note scales. Pitches can be specified directly in Hertz, and scales can be constructed using EDO (equal division per octave) notation. I like how compositions are encoded in the URL for easy sharing.
